No truth to claims of political victimisation of public sector worker – Holness

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he has found no evidence that public sector workers are being quizzed about who they voted for in the February 25 General Elections.

Leader of the Opposition, Portia Simpson Miller, in her contribution to the Budget Debate last month, claimed that she had received reports from a particular ministry and called for the Prime Minister to look into the matter.

However, in an interview in the JIS programme Issues and Answers, Holness, said his investigation found no truth to the claim.

He says he would not countenance any kind of partisan witch-hunt in the civil service.

The prime minister says civil servants who do their jobs have nothing to worry about.

Holness further says those who are not doing their jobs should not use claims of being targeted politically to cover their failures.

He says the government is about getting things done and it will not sit idly and allow persons to undermine its efforts at building the country.
