Following a series of patent licence agreements between the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Huawei, and Cupertino Tech Company, Apple, last year, Apple has started to pay for the use of mobile communication patents to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars a year.

Huawei reportedly authorised 769 patents to Apple, which allowed 98 patents to Huawei, meaning that Huawei, with more patents than Apple, can charge a patent fee for use of the patent.

According to the statistics released by World Intellectual Property Organisation, Huawei topped the table again in terms of international patent applications in 2015. It also jumped to fourth place in Europe, according to the annual report released by European Patent Organisation.
