Dancehall has impressive week on Billboard

Dancehall reggae music continues to reap success on the Billboard chart this week, with Sean Paul rising to number three on the Hot 100, courtesy of his collaboration Cheap Thrills with Sia. This is the deejay's highest placing in the chart since 2010.
Impressively, this is the ninth Hot 100 top-10 entry for Sean Paul, as he continues to carry the dancehall banner for the sea of local dancehall artistes who have had no chart success worthy of mention.
In contrast to Sean Paul's rise on the chart, Charly Black, who is celebrating his first international hit with Gyal You A Party Animal, has fallen to number 24, this after rising to number 23 on the EDM/Dance chart.
Also on the Billboard EDM/Dance chart is former Brick and Lace member Nyla. She sits ahead of Charly Black with the single Light It Up, produced by Major Lazer, and also rose to number 85 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Veterans Tanto Metro and Devonte may also be laughing to the bank this week. The remake of their song, Every One Falls In Love, now titled Luv, released by Tory Lanez, has been climbing the Hot 100 chart convincingly. The song, which was number 84 last week, now sits at number 69.
Vybz Kartel's King of The Dancehall album rose to number five on the Reggae Billboard chart this week, while Ziggy Marley was forced to play second fiddle to foreign band Rebelution, who currently holds the number one spot.
