Foster delivers on promise

Portmore United teenager, Malique Foster, knew that Sunday's matchup with defending champions Montego Bay United was a big one and one that he had to be prepared for.

The last time they met was in the final of the 2015-16 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) final and his team came out losers Foster decided that there was going to be no repeat.

"I was really focused today. Last night I went to my bed really early, very focused, I swear," the 19-year-old attacker told The Gleaner at the end of the game, which his team won 1-0 over Montego Bay United.

"I was not really surprised when I scored that goal and I can tell you it is a great feeling," added the man who won one Manning Cup title with Jamaica College.

The loss in last year's final was a bitter pill for Foster to swallow and something that has been gnawing at him.

BLOOD IN MY EYES

"It was at the back of my mind that they beat us last year in the final. In that final I had a kind of injury so I came back with blood in my eyes for them today," explained Foster, who was scoring his first goal of the season.

Having scored his first goal and contributing to his team's victory, Foster is hoping for even bigger things this season.

"I did not perform to the best of my ability, but I feel great knowing that I scored the winning goal. With that out of the way, my aim right now is to finish the season with more than 10 goals and to win the league," added the player who is aiming for national selection.
