Church donates AC unit to Spanish Town Hospital

Workers on the maternity ward of the Spanish Town Hospital in St Catherine can do their job in a little more comfort after receiving, recently, a new air-condition unit from the Nugent Street-based Church of God of Prophecy.

The donation came through a project of the church's Teens Outreach Programmes (TOPs), started in 2006 by youth directors Allia Leith-Palmer and Christine Scott-Edwards.

The $117,000 AC unit which will be used in the customer service and records office.

TOPs focuses on children and the elderly in the general Spanish Town area and makes regular visits to the children's ward and at least two adult wards at the Spanish Town Hospital, the Strathmore Gardens Children's Home, and the Spanish Town Infirmary.

"This was important to us. The members of the project are of the view that if the staff is comfortable while they work, they are better able to assist patients and give good service. We hope to do much more, but this was just the start," said Leith-Palmer.
