Canadian boxer Dave Leblond defeated local fighter Nico Yeyo in his return to the Wray and Nephew Contender Junior Middleweight Series at the Chinese Benevolent Association Auditorium last night.

Leblond, who had been recalled to the competition in place of countryman Ryan Wagner, after losing to Tsetsi Davis a few weeks ago, said it was a frustrating bout as he was constantly being held and hit in his back by Yeyo, who was making his professional debut.

Judges Lindel Allen scored the bout 47-45 in favour of Leblond, as did Jeremy Hayes, who gave a score of 48-44, while Clifford Brown scored it a 46-46 draw.

Team Jamaica and Team Canada are now locked at 3 wins apiece.

In the amateur events on the evening, Canadian Joshua Frazer defeated Jamaican Damion Williams, while local boxer Janathan Hanson beat Canadian Jake Daoust.
