11 guns seized in Clarendon since January

Eleven illegal guns and 99 rounds of ammunition have been seized by the police in Clarendon since the start of this year.

Police statistics also revealed that between January 1 and May 9, 923 persons were arrested and charged, 73 arrested on suspicion, and 122 persons who were taken into custody were interviewed and released.

Inspector Charmaine Blake Daniels from the Clarendon Police Division also told Thursday's sitting of the monthly council meeting that 772 offensive weapons were seized by the police.

During the period nine persons were arrested during a raid conducted in the Four Paths area, in partnership with the Jamaica Public Service, to remove illegal wiring and electricity theft.
