Diamond Debate | De Grasse vs Lemaitre in Rome

Raymond Graham: "An interesting event will take place in Rome today as the men's 200 metres takes focus with two of the medallists at the Rio Olympic Games - silver medallist Andre De Grasse and the surprise bronze medallist, Christophe Lemaitre, will renew their battle.

Andre Lowe: "Churandy Martina and Julian Forte are also listed in this one, but it's not the most exciting line-up to be honest. Forte ran 19.97 in his last 200m at the Brussels DL in September and it will be interesting to see how he performs here. De Grasse was strong in the 200m at the Jamaica Invitational and must start as favourite."

Raymond Graham: "De Grasse, despite winning in Jamaica, has not shown the form expected from him as his winning time of 20.14 seconds has him at number 10 on the world top list. On the other hand, Lemaitre's only run so far in the event was a pedestrian 21.22 seconds and the winner could come from somewhere else."

Andre Lowe: "Which is why I think Forte has a good chance to make an impression at this meet. Yes, De Grasse hasn't hit high gear yet, but we know he has the class and could turn that on today. I think he'll run a good time here, and I'm backing him to get another victory in the 200m under his belt this season.

Raymond Graham: "I am not impressed with his two 100m runs so far this season, finishing out of the top three on both occasions. Alonso Edwards of Panama likes this track and could repeat his 2014 run when he won. Forte ended his season in fine style last year but I do not see him coming in the top three in Rome."
