Rose defeats Leblond in Contender quarter final

Phil Rose's defeated Dave Leblond by a unanimous judges' decision in their all Canadian quarter final encounter in the Wray and Nephew Contender Boxing Series earlier this evening at the Chinese Benevolent Association Auditorium.

Rose's power proved too much for the speedy Canadian with Lindel Allen scoring 48-47, Clifford Brown 50-45, and Lawrence Neuville 49-46 all in his favour.

Earlier in the evening, Ricardo Carter defeated Samuel Grant by technical knockout in the first of two amateur undercard bouts and Shaquille Linton was disqualified in the other, giving Raheem Pitter the win.

Rose now joins Sakima Mullings in the tournament's semi final round.
