SOS new software to aid its online sales

Stationery and Supplies Limited plans to introduce online sales next year following an up to J$7 million upgrade in its technology, the company said.

Concurrently, JN Fund Managers deputy general manager, Jermaine Deans indicated that interest in SOS remains high among investors despite the three concurrent listing on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE). The other two listing include Productive Business Solutions and Express Catering Limited. SOS hired JN Fund Managers as its lead broker to list on the JSE in an offer that opens this month.

SOS held an investor briefing at its head office on Beechwood Avenue in St. Andrew earlier today.

SOS is currently testing its upgraded customer relations management system with expectations to roll it out among its roughly "100 employees" in two months.

The software will link inventory, sales and accounts so staff can update customers on the status of orders set for delivery.

Additionally, going forward SOS hopes that it will use this software as the backbone of its push for online commerce.

"Currently you can go to our website and see goods but you cannot order from it," indicated Allan McDaniel, deputy general manager and logistics manager at SOS in a Gleaner interview.

The company expects large customers to continue using traditional sales channels to place orders, but that online portal would appeal to individual customers.

"Online is where we need to be going," said McDaniel. "We are trying to attract (individuals) by offering them a way to buy online ... so they see a chair online that they like, pay and get the item delivered to their street and home."
