Sumfest starts on the sand - Adult Playground begins 25th staging
Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2017 got off to a sizzling start with tits beach party - 'The Adult Playground' edition - at Tropical Beach, Montego Bay, St James, on Sunday.
From huge water slides to beachfront cabanas and a VIP ocean bar, organisers Downsound Entertainment spared no expense in putting on the summer beach event, which kicked off a week of festivities marking the 25th celebration of the festival.
This was to the excitement of hundreds of local and international partygoers, who came out to jam and revel at all hours of the night on the white sandy beach in the tourist capital.
The eye-candy beauties were the centre of attention as they rocked some rather risque outfits and stylish swimwear, while their male counterparts were setting trends for 2017's men's summer fashion.
ENJOYABLE FIRST TIME
"This is my first time at Reggae Sumfest, and I must say I love it immensely," said Sandra Perkins from New York.
She was among the sea of revellers enjoying local cuisine such as jerk chicken and other delectable food and drink, the thrilling party atmosphere, and, of course, the hot music juggling by some of Jamaica's top selectors.
These included DJ Jigga, who whet the musical appetites of fans with a mixture of current dancehall, R&B, and hip-hop hits before passing the baton to Ikel Marvlus and Copperhot. They wooed the crowd with some Beres Hammond and Chronixx songs before dropping some new-century dancehall hits from Demarco, Alkaline, Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, and others.
Yanique the 'Curvy Diva' also engaged partygoers with dance-off and wet T-shirt performances both on stage and on the grounds, forming human trains to soca hits like the SocBoys' Follow the Leader and Destra's It's Carnival. She even treated her fans to a high-octane performance of her song Lifestyle.
"I wanted to try something new this summer, and since I have never been to something like this before and always wanted to come, I decided to come here," said one revelling local.
