King of the BBQ
Hundreds of foodies gathered to experience true Jamaican flavour at Jack Daniel's BackYaad BBQ at the UWI Mona visitors' lodge on Boxing Day. The all-you-can-eat event featured an array of delicious dishes from several well-known restaurants such as Triple Century, Truck Stop, Pizza Please, and the Office.
The finger-licking offerings had many traversing the food court time and time again, sampling succulent delicacies. Rich, creamy jerked chicken linguine and coffee-glazed pork chops, served with a side of candied plantains with slices of honey-glazed ham, were some of the favourites.
The aromatic air provided the perfect environment for relaxing with friends while indulging in Jack Daniel inspired cocktails in limited edition mule mugs. "This is a one of a kind event that everyone should come out and experience," said Carlton Davy, co-founder of Golden Events, organisers of the event.
With a continuous flow of food and party hits, many, having satiated their appetite, showed off their dancing skills with dances such as Ding Dong's genna bounce and Fling Yuh Shoulder. Each DJ brought his own style and storyline, which had the crowd roaring with laughter.
"This is the 6th staging of Jack Daniel's BackYaad BBQ, and it is held three times a year. We look forward to bringing more restaurants on board and make this event bigger and better," Davy told Food. The next staging of Jack Daniel's BackYaad BBQ is in March 2018.
