Pinata Pleasure - The highlight of the Christmas treat for the children of Mandela Terrace
There is no doubt that the goodie-filled pinata was the highlight of the Christmas treat for the children from the Mandela Terrace, St Andrew, community. The scores of youngsters could not contain their excitement, as everyone wanted a turn at being blindfolded and being the one to burst open the pinata. Even more excited were those gathered around to scoop up the many niceties that would come falling out.
Indeed, Christmas Eve came alive for the children and parents of the inner-city community who came out to enjoy the many activities, refreshments, and goodies on offer at the annual affair hosted by the Faith United Church of God.
The priceless look of thrill and glee on the faces of the youngsters told the story of how much they enjoyed the day.
No one was empty-handed, as each child got several gifts, whether from the pixie gift exchange, loot bags, goodies from the pinata, or earning for themselves spot prizes in the many activities that included treasure hunt, bun-eating and soda-drinking contests, guess the Christmas carol, current affairs and Bible quizzes, and add-the-credit.
After burning all that energy, they had a bellyful of hot dogs, chicken, rolls, snacks, ice cream, pastry, juice and much more.
"Special thanks to the many donors - Digicel, FLOW, Headline Entertainment, Market Me, Fifth Element Records, and several friends and relatives, local and overseas - who continue to give generously from their hearts each year to help the children enjoy a wonderful Christmas. May God continue to bless them," said Pastor Charles Francis.
