Harry's Train is coming to run

Wayne DaCosta's WITHOUT EXCEPTION will be racing against the clock when he faces the starter in tomorrow's opening event of the Sunrise-6.

The well-bred colt, carrying top weight 57kg, was tested in the 1400 metres Sweet Ruckus Trophy last December 30 but proved too strong for the useful Honey Ryda after splits of 23.1x 45.3. He will go with a featherweight 49.0kg and crack apprentice Anthony Thomas tomorrow, and he will make it a post-to-post affair against his five rivals. There is no one in the race to match his early pace, and he should come home unchallenged.

It's now or never for TWILIGHT PRINCESS in the second. She has been proving very expensive to follow after going off the favourite and flopping in her last two races. The Paul Charlton-trained mare has been given a big ease in the handicaps, and this should be enough for the five-year-old to get her head in front in this 1400 metres race. In her last run over distance on December 23, TWILIGHT PRINCESS was prominent throughout but ended up third. MARY'S GOLD, who was also in that race, closed fast for fourth and is the selection's main danger.

Ian Parsard's HARRY'S TRAIN has been keeping company with progressive stable companion Dragline at exercise and is the one to be on in Race Three. Dragline clocked a fast 1:12.2 for 1200 metres when winning on January 17, and HARRY'S TRAIN will be a good bet tomorrow with Thomas aboard. MY SUGARMAN, to be ridden by experienced former champion jockey Dane Nelson, has also been burning up the exercise track, galloping 46.3x1.001 from the gate on January 22, and should run HARRY'S TRAIN close.

Course specialist RUNJOHNNY RUN should run his rivals into the ground in Race Four. He reserves his best efforts for the straight, and with gate master Wesley Henry on board and the outside draw RUNJOHNNY RUN, should claim the outside rail early and power away from the field.

Trainer Patrick Lynch has fitted blinkers on URBAN PRINCIPAL for tomorrow's fifth, so expect him to be closer to the lead in Race Five. The five-year-old gelding was a 4-5 favourite when travelling 1100 metres last Saturday but was left with too much to do when winner Fortuneonehundred took charge late.

Take newcomer GARRINCHA in the sixth. He has been training, as well as American-bred MY SUGARMAN, and will prove too fast for local rivals in the Mercury Sprint over 1000 metres straight.
