Dino Williams revels in Hankinson faith

Montego Bay United's (MBU) striker Dino Williams was the star in a 2-0 victory over Harbour View FC in their Red Stripe Premier League encounter at WesPow Park in Montego Bay yesterday.

Williams, who appreciates working with a manager that believes in his abilities, has scored four goals in his last three matches and said he is happy he could contribute to his team getting well-needed points.

"I was looking for six in three, but, unfortunately, I missed out in the last game. Today was a very important game for us as we really needed the three points to move away from 10th place, so I'm happy I could do it for the team," said Williams. His 12th and 75th minute strikes gave MBU the win to put them in seventh place on 31 points, one ahead of Harbour View, in eighth on the 12 team table.

"When you have a manager that believes in you one hundred per cent, you're going to always go out there and play your best. So to work with him again is a good feeling," said Williams, who explained why he still has not yet had surgery on his groin injury.

"I delayed the surgery because the team was not in the best position. I'm just trying to see how far we can reach. If we make the top six I'm going to delay it again until after the season."

POSITIVE EFFECT

When asked about his positive effect on Williams's recent form, MBU's technical director Timothy Hankinson told The Gleaner that he has no magical effect on him.

"I got no magic around him," said Hankinson. "He's playing at 65 per cent of his ability, but there is no one better around goal, given an opportunity. If you look at his general play, there aren't a lot of runs or actions, but he is a great finisher. As long as the rest of the players can build chances and find him around the box, he will continue to get goals," he added.

Hankinson said that he hopes that at the end of the season, Williams can get the surgery and get back to the being what he considers a dynamic national goal scorer.
