Pride into CWI Regional Super50 Cup final
St John’s, Antigua:
Defending champions Barbados Pride secured a 13-run win over Kent CCC in their semi-final clash in the Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 Cup at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Wednesday night.
The Pride, who chose to bat first after winning the coin toss, took a while to get their innings going but captain and man of the match, Kraigg Brathwaite, took control, registering 105 not out, with eight fours and two sixes, off 136 balls. Next best for the Barbadians was Roston Chase, scoring 81, with nine fours and two sixes, off 73 balls. Omar Phillips also chipped in with 62, taking The Pride to a total of 263 for three off their 50 overs. Grant Stewart, Adam Riley, and Imran Qayyum picked up a wicket apiece for the English side.
Kent needed 264 for victory, but after many rain delays, that target was reduced to 259, then to 230. Sean Dickson top-scored for Kent with 51, including four fours, from 73 balls, while Adam Rouse added 45 from 69 balls to their total of 216 for eight, which saw them fall short of the target.
Dominic Drakes and Hayden Walsh Jr claimed two wickets each in the innings.
Barbados will now await the winner of the Guyana Jaguars versus Windward Volcanos at the same venue at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
