Trey Songz faces domestic violence charge
AMERICAN SINGER Trey Songz has surrendered himself to the LAPD to face a charge of felony domestic violence.
Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was accused of hitting Andrea Buera, who filed a police report on 21 February. He has denied the allegations.
He took to social media to protest his innocence. In a series of tweets published on 19 March, Songz said: "For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends and fans especially the youth need to hear from me. I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone's personal gain.
"I won't be speaking too much more on this but would like to thank you for all the prayers and support."
Buera claims that Songz hit her in the face while at a party they attended in the Hollywood Hills area of Los Angeles. She also alleged that he became violent after seeing her speaking with another man.
"Trey began yelling at me, choking me, punching me and ultimately he knocked me to the ground. While I was on the ground he continued punching me and he did not stop until his sec guard pulled him off of me," she said in press conference held on 13 March.
Buera said that she continues to have flashbacks from the night. She added that she wanted an apology from Songz and for him to seek help before alleging that she was not his first victim.
The Neighbours Know My Name singer was reportedly booked at 6am on 19 March and released around a couple of hours later after a $50,000 (PS35,600) bond was posted.
