Steve Lyston | Breaking the negatives that plague our mind

One of the greatest obstacles holding us back as a people is a negative state of mind. A person will never see change - whether personal, national or political - until his or her mindset changes. For example, people will always vote for the same system and still think change will come from it. So, it is as if slavery never left, there was just a shifting of the chains from the feet to the mind. Oftentimes, even where we have been freed or released physically, the bondage remains in our mind.

Similarly, a person may be in an abusive relationship and simply can't see a way out, so they prefer to stay in the situation hoping things will change, not realising that in walking by faith they would be surprised to see the better that is out there for them.

Sitting in fear in your current situation will only bring stagnation and limitation. Moving by faith will yield provision and deliverance

(2 Kings: 7).

We need to break the negativity and rejection that limits us from advancing.

Break the negative words spoken against your life and reject the sickness, death and debt spoken by others over your life. Speak/declare long life, good health and prosperity over yourself, your family, your community, your church and your nation.

There are people who are paid to utter curses against individuals for their failure and demise, but we have a mouth to speak positive confessions, and to decree and declare to reverse the negatives spoken against us (Job 22: 28).

 

SPEAK OVER YOUR CHILDREN

 

As a parent, you have a right to speak positive words over your children. Speak what you want them to be. Anoint them with oil and declare that they will not experience all the negative experiences you had to go through - rape, abortion, teenage pregnancy or abuse of any kind.

Furthermore, speak positively that you will not walk in marital failure, business failure, barrenness, impotence or any other cycles within your life that stop your progress in any way.

Don't let any negative thoughts settle in your mind about how you see yourself. How you see yourself is different from how God sees you. Don't allow anyone to convince you that you will never make it or that you are a failure. Your present circumstances have nothing to do with your future. You must know and believe that your future is bright! You don't have to sin to create a future. The key to living a successful life is to abide by God's principle, walk in it, practise it - live it! (Joshua 1:8) Any other principle is fake and temporary. God has a plan for you to prosper, but you have to walk and believe.

 

SPEAK DAILY, POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS

 

You must always speak your expectation on a daily basis, and your expectations must be positive, not filled with fear.

Regardless of the state of the economy or society, none of that has any bearing on the state of your future. Earth's economy does not control your destiny. God controls your destiny, so we must speak what we want daily, and we must accept and believe that (Mark 11).

Obstacles will come, but keep speaking. Don't stop believing or speaking - we are not squatters; speak like a landowner! You are not a grasshopper, you are a giant killer. Stop focusing on the giant and begin to focus on God, because He is able.

Stop comparing yourself with others that you think are far better than you. You are unique and they can't do what you can the way you can. A positive mindset puts you ahead of the game.

Write your goals and never stop believing or reaching for them. The Lord has a set time and season for you to walk in success. Remember, success is not about what you own materially. Success is about doing what God wants you to do, being where God wants you to be, and in the time He says to do and be so.

Never watch anyone you think may be ahead of you, focus on your purpose. God has your timing in hand and only you can stop yourself.
