THERE COULD be growing acceptance of the need for a push to realise a recycling revolution, thanks, at least in part, to the efforts of Wisynco Eco.

Wisynco Eco recently launched its Recycle Challenge, which aims to increase awareness among the Jamaican public of the impact of proper waste management and recycling on the environment.

There are currently six corporate challengers, and leading the revolution so far are Fidelity Motors (Nissan), with the number of bottles collected at 15,466, followed by Newport West Distributors Chad-Ad Limited with 12,936.

Tank-Weld Metals comes in next with 5,588 and popular JaMexican Restaurant Chilitos with 4,202.

There are no available numbers yet for the other two challengers - Zip FM and The Gleaner.

The Recycling Revolution, meanwhile, is not limited to corporate Jamaica. Everyone is welcomed to take the challenge, and here is a guide on how to make that happen.

Step 1: Buy biodegradable garbage bags.

Step 2: Separate your plastics.

Step 3: For a list of recycling depots islandwide, visit www.wisynco.com/ recyclingoutlets.

Step 4: Contact Recycling Partners of Jamaica.

Step 5: Drop off your plastics at the recycling outlet nearest to you.

Step 6: Watch your plastics being processed for further use!

Step 7: Tell a friend!

"Recycling is quick and easy and we encourage you to join the revolution to end plastic pollution," said environment communication officer at Wisynco, Shelly-Ann Dunkley.
