SAJ Stages Financial Reporting Workshop

The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) will stage a financial reporting workshop on September 26 as a part of the 2018 workshop series. The workshop will target financial professionals who are tasked with presenting their financial reports in the last quarter of 2018 and would like to be aware of changes in accounting practices and reporting requirements.

Accounting reporting requirements are updated regularly in order to keep pace with international best practices, to keep with changing legislation, and as international agreements come into force and have an impact on local practices. It is of importance that those tasked with preparing reports equip themselves with the most up-to-date information on these changes and present them in their annual reports. More details of this workshop will be reported on as they become available.

Two Workshops

So far this year, the association has presented two workshops, one on public relations and the other on supervisory management. Both were well attended and highly rated by participants who signalled their interest in being involved in more workshops provided by the SAJ.

The series continues with an advanced social media workshop on September 12, 2018. This workshop will be presented by career teacher, media practitioner and social media manager at Nationwide News Network, Dennis Brooks. This training session comes as a corollary to a social media bootcamp hosted by the SAJ in 2017. Participants in that training session gave Brooks and the SAJ high marks and asked for additional workshops to boost their proficiency in the use of social media tools to enhance their professional applications of the various platforms. The target for that workshop is social media practitioners who use the platform for business purposes. So far, the registration has been robust, and interested persons should consider registering as early as possible rather than waiting for the last few days to signal their willingness to participate.
