"I feel good."

Zarah is nine years old and in grade five. She is a part of the art club and track and field team. When she is not spelling, she loves to play. She boasts hop scotch and video games among her favourites.

Coach on winning:

"I'm feeling ecstatic right now, beaming with joy, seeing that Zarah has taken the win again for the parish and for the school."

Her coach states that preparing her wasn't a challenge as she had grown as a speller.

"I've seen the potential in her. She is mature now and more disciplined. She carries out the tasks given. She is meticulous in her preparation."

Sherrie Wallace (Mom) on the win:

"I'm elated! I'm very happy for her that at this tender age, she is excelling."

Zarah's mom quips that she is coach number two. She follows the plan set out for her by her coach.

Fun fact:

This is Zarah's third time entering the competition and her second win. In 2016, she became the youngest speller in the history of the competition to win a parish title.
