Public to benefit from community health tours

In an effort to support access to healthcare, the Sagicor Foundation has commenced a series of community health tours, which begins today.

In a release, the foundation said the first of its five stops will be in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, at its Sagicor Bank office. During the tours, the public will be offered free blood pressure, blood sugar, blood cholesterol and vision tests.

The checks will be carried out by a team of nurses on the Sagicor Wellness Mobile Bus.

The other four locations for the tour are the Sagicor Life Montego Bay Business Centre, St James, on November 20; Eight Rivers Town Centre, Ocho Rios,

St Ann, November 21; Sagicor Life, Mandeville, Manchester, November 21; and Sagicor Bank Tropical Plaza, Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, on Friday November 23.

Simone Walker, executive director of the Sagicor Foundation and vice president, group marketing, Sagicor, said that health is a primary focus of the foundation, noting that there are still many Jamaicans who are not able to access basic services.

"There are many Jamaicans who are unable to afford basic and essential healthcare services, and where we see that we can assist in filling those gaps, as a responsible corporate citizen, we will continue to play our part," Walker said.
