The US Embassy, in demonstrating its commitment to Jamaica's disaster-mitigation and response efforts, recently hosted Minister of Local Government and Community Development Desmond McKenzie for a preliminary discussion on an upcoming tabletop exercise, slated for the Spring of 2019. The embassy's charge d'affaires Eric Khant said the combined training exercise will include members of the US military from the District of Colombia National Guard, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, and the Jamaica Defense Force. The main objective is to help prepare Jamaica's disaster-response organisations for a potential national-level crisis.
