GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Cricket West Indies president Ricky Skerritt has given his assurance that Guyana will host matches when India tours the Caribbean in August.

Skerritt made the promise to Guyana’s Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, during a recent visit to the country to discuss matters of mutual interest towards the development and growth of West Indies Cricket.

The India team is scheduled to tour the West Indies in August, following the ICC Cricket World Cup, which will commence next week in England and finish on July 14.

“I came here to pay tribute to your longstanding cricket interest, and you have always been a big cricket supporter,” Skerritt said.

“Cricket is so powerful, cricket brings people together.”

He explained that he would be engaging the various cricket stakeholders in Guyana on the way forward for cricket governance in the country.

The two leaders also discussed matters related to the hosting of the Regional Under-19 tour.
