Music played a huge role in the just-concluded Appleton Estate-sponsored Jamaica Rum Festival held at Hope Gardens last Saturday and Sunday, but it was still a bit surprising to see Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett hanging out at the Tourism Enhancement Fund booth looking like the resident DJ. The minister has stated that he wants the festival to be expanded to the tourism Mecca of Montego Bay. Speaking to JIS News on Saturday, Bartlett noted that “festivals are a big part of what brings people to a destination”, and as such, he would like to see two events held next year – one in Kingston and the other in Montego Bay.
