Western Bureau:

After a narrow first-leg win, St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will be looking to stamp their class when they host Holmwood Technical High School in the second round of the ISSA/Digicel daCosta Cup football competition at the STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz today t 3 p.m.

STETHS won the first leg 1-0 at Brooks Park in Manchester last Friday and coach of STETHS, Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn, said he is expecting an intense clash.

“Over the years, it’s always an intense game when we play Holmwood. We are looking for an interesting encounter but we are up and running. We are also anticipating a physical battle because they are coming for the win also,” Wedderburn said.

Wedderburn added that they will have good home support but it is important that the players produce a good display. STETHS have scored 13 of their 22 goals in their backyard.

Holmwood, on the other hand, have scored just nine times in as many games this season and must make a big improvement in front of goals if they hope to advance.

Coach of Holmwood, Errol Newman, said he is aware of the energy the crowd will bring to their counterparts but noted they have nothing to lose as they look to give of their best.

“We are trailing so we are going to give it our best shot and I’m sure it will be good enough. We have to hit the ground running, stay focused and disciplined,” Newman said.

In the early kick-off at 1 p.m., last season’s runners-up Mannings School will battle Charlemont High School.
