KC, Queen's rule Corporate Area Champs' 1,500m

Kingston College (KC) and The Queen’s School ruled the 1,500 metres finals at the Anthrick Corporate Area Championships today at the National Stadium.

KC took two of the three races, with Christopher Anderson winning the Class III boys’ crown in 4:45.62 minutes as Jamaica College's (JC) Yohance Carty finished second in 4:48.98 and Jelani Brown also of KC third in 4:50.32.

Brian Kiprop led a KC first and second finish in the Class II event, clocking 4:13.60 minutes, as teammate and fellow Kenyan Nahason Ruto clocked 4:13.93 for second, while JC's Tyrone Lawson was third in 4:15.80.

JC’s victory was in Class I, with Nicholas Power clocking 4:01.82 minutes to finish ahead of Ethan Gioko of KC with 4:05.30 and Calabar's Kewarny Fletcher with 4:14.23.

Meanwhile, The Queen’s School had successes in the Classes III and I events.

Shantay Powell clocked 5:35.68 minutes for victory in Class III while Kemora Douglas of St Andrew High School for Girls was second in 5:34.84 and Renae Chung of Wolmer’s Girls’ School third in 5:53.53.

The Class I title was claimed by Ashantae Brown, who clocked a personal best of 5:15.45 minutes, with Shaneequa Anderson of Excelsior second in 5.17.44 and Brown's teammate Crystal Shanna Kay Coke third in 5:33.65.

The Class II crown was claimed by Camperdown's Jennifer Byass in 5:12.67 minutes with Holy Childhood's Jeneail Henry coming second in 5:12.88 and Excelsior's Angel Stephenson third in 5:34.74.
