EMPEROROFTHECATS swooped down three-wide off the home turn, going past 4-5 favourite GOD OF LOVE, before reeling in YELLOWSTONE to notch his second straight win yesterday, justifying trainer Carl Anderson’s decision to stick with claiming riders.

Carrying 110lb due to Ramon Nepare’s seven-pound bug, EMPEROROFTHECATS raced unbothered in third behind YELLOWSTONE and topweight GOD OF LOVE before making his move entering the stretch run of the five-furlong open allowance sprint.

YELLOWSTONE, later disqualified from third after his sharp move at the half-mile marker hindered PERFECT BREW, tried stealing a march in a bid for a fourth consecutive win.

Though getting rid of seven-year-old GOD OF LOVE, who again struggled with 126lb, YELLOWSTONE surrendered when attacked a furlong out by EMPEROROFTHECATS, who won by two lengths from fast-finishing NUCLEAR NOON in an eye-catching 59.4.

YELLOWSTONE stayed on for third but was disqualified and placed out of the top four behind PERFECT BREW, resulting in EMPEROROFTHECATS being awarded third.

Tevin Foster maintained his rich vein of form, landing the late double with 9-2 chance SCOOBY and 7-1 mild upsetter BLUE SKY, respectively.

Yesterday’s double marked Foster’s third consecutive two-timer, moving him to 25 winners atop the jockeys’ standings, seven clear of Reyan Lewis.

Andre Powell also rode two winners on the 10-race card, MAGICAL MOOD at 14-1 in the fourth at five furlongs straight and LORD BURKINGTON in the sixth.

Racing continues next Saturday.
