BOYS’ TOWN coach Leon Hardware is hoping his team can bring some long-awaited silverware to the community when they face off with Constant Spring FC at the Constant Spring Sports Complex this evening at 7 p.m.

This will be preceeded by the Major League final between the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and Olympic Gardens at 5 p.m.

Hardware pointed out that after a slow start to the season, the team has gathered momentum and he is hoping they can top it off with the trophy.

Although he anticipates a very difficult match from his opponents, he is looking for a solid performance from his team.

“We didn’t play our best game (semi-final), but the result was very good for us. We had a lot of twitches here and there, and we are glad we pulled through.

“We just need to concentrate a little more and focus on the task ahead of us, and we put in a lot of work back on the training ground.

“We played Constant Spring (already), and we know what they are really about. We can’t take them lightly. But we need to go out and play our game,” he said.

He noted that at the start of the season, three veterans of the Premier League team that was relegated in 2018 played their role in helping to guide the younger players in the squad.

However, after Michael Campbell migrated and Troy Dawes pulled out due to work commitments, Rafiek Thomas has been left to carry the torch, and he has been doing a great job, Hardware commended.

HOPING FOR THE BEST

“We have to congratulate the youth because without them it wouldn’t be possible. We are hoping for the best and that they will go in with a positive attitude.

“We started the season with three seniors, but only Rafiek is here with us now. But we will work out a strategy and stick to the game plan and see if we can come out victorious,” he added.

The Constant Spring camp also has high expectations, playing at home. But coach Gregory Walters believes it will be a keenly contested match

“We played them two times. They are a physical team and they have a lot of speed. So we expect a rough game,” said Walters.

Javair Wilmot, Orville Mullings, Ramore Harvey, Dujaun Watkins, and goalkeeper Jean-Luke Watkins will lead the way for Constant Spring, and Walters wants them to stick to what has made them successful this season.

“Expectations are high, and we will have the crowd support behind us as well. I expect the youngsters to play to instructions, play disciplined, as that is what has kept us so far. But I expect a fireworks final. I expect Boys’ Town to come out hard, and we will be coming out on fire as well. So expect a quality game,” he said
