Fedrick Dacres is happy to make the final of the men’s discus at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, today.

Jamaica will have two representatives in the final of the men’s discus as Travis Smikle and Fedrick Dacres booked their place in the final following qualification in the evening session of the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, today.

Compatriot Roje Stona wasn’t as lucky as his opening attempt of 62.67 metres failed to get him into the final from Group A. Stona, who fouled on his second attempt, registered a mark of 61.69 metres on his final attempt.

Smikle made sure he punched his ticket to the final as he had the third-best attempt in Group A with his opening attempt of 65.71 metres. Smikle also registered 64.32 on his second attempt and followed that with a 64.30.

Dacres, on the other hand, left it late to book a place in the final, as his final attempt of 65.45 was good enough for the fourth-best effort in Group B.

Dacres didn’t record a mark on his first attempt and did 64.72 metres on his second attempt.

Sweden’s Daniel Stahl heads into the final with a leading mark of 66.25 metres, followed by Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna with 66.04 and Kristjan Čeh of Slovenia with 65.95.
