Cavalier young guns headed in the right direction – Speid

CAVALIER COACH Rudolph Speid believes his young players are moving in the right direction after claiming two consecutive clean sheets in the Jamaica Premier League.

Speid shared concerns with The Gleaner about his team’s inability to opponents after their 1-1 draw with Tivoli Gardens on match day 10.

However, two 1-0s victories over Dunbeholden on Sunday at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, and Treasure Beach last Wednesday at Sabina Park, have given Speid hope that his troops are responding positively to his call for them to lift their games.

“As you can see, this is a new team and we are really trying. I mean, we are moving in the right direction. This was always a concern for us, we keep on giving up goals,” said Speid.

The victory over Lenworth Hyde’s Dunbeholden saw them climbing two spots up the table to fifth on 18 points.

Speid, while he was happy for the wins and clean sheets, concedes that Cavalier, last year’s beaten finalists, are not where they want to be in terms of results and performance.

“It’s a work in progress, and this is a team that normally can defend. I am still pleased by the back-to-back clean sheets, we now have to just work hard and hope that it continues,” he said.

Cavalier are up against Molynes United at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex at 4:30 p.m., while Arnett Gardens play Treasure Beach at 7.
