Transport Minister Daryl Vaz is to recommend the appointment of retired Chief of Defence Staff Major General Stewart Saunders as chairman of the board of the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority following the resignation of Colonel Oscar Derby from the post.

Two other directors, Edward Miller and Ian Murray, have also resigned.

The resignations will reportedly take effect on June 30.

Vaz advised the other members of the board of the development in a letter dated June 19, 2024.

He advised that he would be taking the matter to Cabinet on Monday for the approval of the appointment of a new chairman and directors.

Vaz said he hoped to have the new appointments in place for July 1.
