What is faith?
The EDITOR, Madam:
One can define faith in several ways. The Bible tells us that “Faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the conviction about things that cannot be seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
However, there is a video circulating on social media of a father leading his family in worship as Hurricane Beryl makes its devastating impact on his home.
I pray that the video is real because there is so much we can all learn from it and so much ministering we can receive from this family’s sharing of the Good News – proclaiming and having faith in Jesus Christ.
Faith is holding on to God when you have all the reasons not to. Certainly, this family could have interpreted the situation as a time to give up on faith and ask the ‘question of why them?’ However, in a bit of selfishness, ‘why not them?’
I ask this question because, as a result of their faithfulness, many will have a visual of what it means to have faith, many will have a renewal of faith, and many will be validated in their steadfast faith.
In a time when people are struggling with faith and the belief in God, this incredible and blessed family has offered well-needed hope. For us ministers and Christians, we are compelled by our faith, and it is our duty to ensure that this family’s roof is restored because with faith, no battle is lost, and that is the “Goodness of God” they sang about.
