A strong performer on the world stage, two-time World Championship bronze medalist Rushell Clayton is just making her Olympic début. But having her fastest season yet, she hopes to join the likes of Deon Hemmings McCatty, Melaine Walker and Kaliese Spencer Carter as Olympic medalists in the 400m hurdles.

An injury derailed Clayton’s 2021 season, preventing her from fighting for a spot at the Tokyo Games. Since then she has fought her way back to full health, culminated by her performance last year in Budapest with a World Championship bronze, her second to go with the one she claimed in Doha.

Clayton is the fastest Jamaican this year, with a personal best time of 52.51 seconds set at the national championships, making her the second fastest Jamaican in history. With a shot at Walker’s. 52.45 national record on the cards, Clayton is looking to have a memorable Olympics.
