PM announces by-election for St Ann North East

Prime Minister Andrew Holness this morning announced that a by-election will be held for the St Ann North East constituency on September 30.
Speaking at today's post-Cabinet press briefing, Holness said nomination day will be September 11.
The announcement came a day after Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Member of Parliament Marsha Smith resigned with immediate effect.
The first-term MP's resignation on Tuesday came exactly four years after being elected to represent the constituency.
Holness also said announcements for by-elections for the other vacant constituencies will be done within the coming months.

The Trelawny Southern seat has been vacant since last September following the resignation of the JLP's Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert.
The Government is set to lose a third parliamentarian by the end of October, when Finance Minister and St Andrew North Western MP Dr Nigel Clarke leaves representational politics.
There are also two vacant municipal seats as a result of the deaths of People's National Party councillor for Morant Bay, St Thomas Rohan 'Washy' Bryan, who passed away in May, and Aenon Town's Marjorie McLeod-McFarlane (JLP) in Clarendon on Sunday.
