Nineteen-year-old woman killed in Spanish Town crash

A 19-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Angels Toll Plaza Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday night.

Her identity has not been released.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. 

Preliminary police reports indicate that a 2007 blue and white International 800 truck collided with the front of a 2018 grey Honda Fit, that the woman was driving. 

The truck, traveling north on Brunswick Avenue, was turning right onto Angels Toll Plaza Road when its rear wheels struck the car, fatally injuring the woman.

Information from the Police Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch shows that 252 persons have died in motor vehicle 220 collisions between January 1 and September 7 this year.

For the similar period in 2023, there were 264 collisions and 285 deaths.
