Two men charged in separate murders in Kingston and St Andrew

Detectives have charged two men in connection with separate murders in Kingston and St Andrew. 

In the first case, 22-year-old construction worker Kemany Jones, also known as 'Kiddy,' has been charged with the January 22, 2023, murder of 33-year-old taxi operator Leon Lindsay of Taylor Land, Bull Bay in St Andrew. 

Jones, who is from Bobo Hill in Bull Bay, is also charged with using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and conspiracy to commit murder. 

It's alleged that Lindsay was inside his car when Jones and another man approached and opened fire, killing him on the scene. Jones was arrested during a targeted operation in Bobo Hill and charged on September 6 after a question-and-answer session with his attorney, a police statement said Saturday. 

In the second case, 32-year-old Samuel 'Obbie' Grant, of Bentley Lane, Kingston 13, has been charged with the May 17, 2024, murder of 37-year-old Marlon Johnson, also known as 'Mega,' of Maxfield Avenue in Kingston. 

According to the Denham Town police, Johnson was walking along Lamont Lane in Kingston when Grant and two other men allegedly approached and shot him multiple times.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Grant, who was arrested in a police operation, has also been charged with with using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
