Apprentice jockey charged over fatal gun attack in Gregory Park remanded

The accused is to return to court on October 29.

An apprentice racehorse jockey charged for the shooting death of a man who was riding a bicycle along a roadway in Gregory Park, Portmore, St Catherine was remanded in the parish court today.

Germaine Lindo, 20, otherwise called 'Coolie' and 'Jockey', of a Gregory Park address, is charged with murder, using a firearm to commit a scheduled offence and possession of prohibited weapon and ammunition.

He was remanded to secure the services of a legal aid representative.

The case was transferred to the High Court where it will be mentioned on October 29.

Lindo is accused of the killing of Andre Campbell, a 52-year-old labourer of a Gregory Park address.

Allegations are that about 8:15 p.m. on August 9, Campbell was riding a bicycle along a roadway in Gregory Park when he was pounced upon by Lindo who brandished a gun and shot him several times.

Campbell succumbed to his injuries.

Lindo fled the scene and was held by the police and subsequently charged following question and answer session.
