The Ministry of Labour and Social Security is warning members of the public of false messages being circulated about a 'National Assistance Fund' via text messages.

It says the messages have been encouraging persons to apply online to the fund.

However, the ministry says there is no 'National Assistance Fund'.

"If you receive such a message via SMS, email, or any other medium, please report it to the police immediately," a media release from the ministry said.

The ministry is also cautioning all persons against sharing banking information or any other personal details via text message, internet links, or other similar means.

Persons who have concerns or who need information about any of the Ministry's programmes are invited to contact us directly by calling the Customer Contact Centre at 876-922-8000-13 or by visiting the Ministry's offices in their parishes.
