Kingston taxi operator faces multiple charges for stolen vehicle  

Thirty-one-year-old Jermaine Knight, taxi operator of Long Lane, Kingston, has been charged with larceny of motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, obtaining money by means of false pretence and possession of Revenue Paper before such paper has been duly stamped, signed and issued for use, following an incident in Portmore, St Catherine on Monday, June 24.

Reports from the Portmore Police are that at about 7:00 p.m., a man parked and securely locked his vehicle – a Nissan caravan motor truck valued at $1,600,000 – and retired to bed. When he awoke, he discovered the vehicle missing.

Knight reportedly later made modifications to the vehicle, and visited the Tax Administration Office where he registered the vehicle in his name. He reportedly later sold the vehicle to a man for $1,200,000.

A report was made to the police and Knight was later arrested, and was subsequently charged following an interview in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
