INDECOM probing police fatal shooting of three men in St James
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the fatal shooting of three men by the police during an alleged shootout today in Orange, St James.
Preliminarily, the police have reported that the Area Fugitive Apprehension Team visited a premises with a warrant in search of a named person.
It is alleged that three men fired at the police, upon the approach of the cops into the building.
The cops fired in response.
The three men were later pronounced dead and three firearms were reported as recovered from the deceased men.
One man was identified as the subject of the warrant, while the other men remain unidentified.
No body worn cameras were reported as issued or worn during this planned operation, INDECOM noted.
The agency says its team is currently conducting the investigative enquiries including the examination, processing and packaging of evidential material and bodies of the deceased men.
Persons with information about the identity of the deceased men or general information into the circumstances resulting in the death of the men are being asked to contact INDECOM.
Year-to-date, 183 persons have been shot and killed by the security forces, of which 15 were fatally shot in December.
