Power

What pray, seems to consume many who are given the throttle of power ?

The metamorphic change seems to occur almost every hour.

In their un-empowered state,

They are calm and sedate.

But!

When the reigns of power they hold,

The transformation is amazing to behold .

Their latent fears, jealousy and greed, come to the fore,

And all semblance of decency seems to have exited through the door.

Charity and compassion is now subsumed,

And mania and narcissism emerge in fullbloom.

Blinded by power and irrationally enraged ,

Power can cause you to be emotionally en-caged .

So !

If you are entrusted with power,

handle it carefully,or you it will devour.

– Alverston Bailey

Become You Through Actions

Trying something new is what makes the difference

Venture forth and take on a new challenge

for growth, because success comes from our attempts, and failure

comes from satisfying ourselves easily and trying nothing new.

We must embrace the unknown and the new,

and with each step, our skills will grow with us, and if there is a

stumbling block don’t give up because it’s wisdom gained, and

that hurdle can’t stop us again.

So don’t be afraid to take the leap, and do something you have

never done before.

For in the act of trying, we find the power to grow and soar and

explore. Be what we are meant to be.

Sometimes we may not succeed at first, but our efforts will not be in vain

Every failure brings us closer to our goals.

So take a chance, step out of your comfort zone, and do something

you have never done before.

For in the at of doing, we become,

The best version of ourselves, and so much more,

Become you through actions.

– Vincent B. George Bryan

Character Educate Me, Please

In the classroom of life, I now stand,

Seeking guidance from your loving hand.

Teach me the lessons that will endure,

Help build my moral rectitude.

Please be patient you lend your light.

To educate me in virtues bright.

For in the nurture of your love and grace,

Lies the essence of my maturing fate.

Six pillars I am told are of much worth,

Trustworthiness, Respect and Responsibility,

Fairness, Caring and Citizenship too.

Add some others as you see fit.

Educate me in Responsibility’s creed,

So, accountability is seen in my every deed.

Let Respect be my foundation stone,

Respect for all, not self alone.

In Fairness’ grip, let me find,

The choice to listen with an open mind.

For in Caring’s gentle embrace

Rest my power to heal my dying race.

A Citizen of the world I am.

Here at home and far beyond

Doing my share to heal our land,

With your help in my character plan!
