Millions of persons across the world are anxiously awaiting the clash between multiple Olympic and World Championship gold medallist Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin in the men's 100 metre event at the World Champion-ship in Beijing later this month. Although on a smaller scale, the anticipation is no less intense for the thousands of diehard circuit racing fans who have been waiting for the return of Doug Gore and his Audi TT, to take on all comers.

It happens at today's Emanci-pation of Speed race meet. The farming community of Old Hope, Westmoreland, is expected to buzz with non-stop excitement as the 1.8-mile long track has attracted some of the country's top circuit racing drivers.

The man making his return to the starting grid expects to do so in style. "The lap record is in trouble," a confident Gore told Automotives last week. This was after posting a 1:06 lap time during practice. Gore, who has been out of action for almost a year since his car crashed the Jamwest Speedway during preparation for the regional championship, described his machine as a new-look "2015 Audi".

"The car is ready and feels very good. It has been responding excellently to the track," said Gore.

On the other hand, the man with whom Gore has an ongoing rivalry is not in the best of shape. "My car is ready to go, in good condition, but I am not 100 per cent," said David Summberbell, who was seriously injured in an accident recently. The injuries have affected his right side.

Still, he is keeping an eye on the overall picture. "But I will be there and will be competing to amass enough points to win this year's championship," said Summerbell.

Fresh from his accident in Trinidad during the CMRC event, Peter Rae and his Epping RX-7 Mazda are ready again. This is a car that Gore is expecting a serious challenge from. "The car has become popular at Jamwest and I am hoping for a great day," said Rae, who upset the apple cart at Dover recently to take chequered flag in one of the Thundersport II events.

Other drivers who have been completing their preparation at Jamwest include Peter 'Bull' Thompson who, according to reports, looks very fast. Chris Campbell has also been prepared, which means Gore and his Audi may not get the chance to dominate.
