It appears that whatever happens tomorrow at the last meet of the Jamaica Race Drivers Club (JRDC) Championship series for the year, the young guns will be on top.

It was not long ago that the likes of William Myers, Nicholas Barnes, Fraser 'Frazz' McConnell, and Justin Sirgany were little boys romping up and down the Palisadoes Speedway in go-karts. In fact, most of them can't legally drive on Jamaican roads ye.

Frazz conquered all before winning the 2015 JRDC Drivers' Championship.

This year, young McConnell looks set to do the same as he has a good lead on all others, with 92 points. He has been piloting a Subaru WRX STI all year with a pair of safe hands, showing a smooth driving style that is well beyond his years.

However, just six points behind him is another of the young guns, Brian Shor, in a BMW M3. Big dog Douglas 'Hollywood' Gore is third on 78 points. He has the most to lose and will try to be a little bit more careful since he has to show up in Guyana subsequently to win the Caribbean championship. Gore knows this, and so while he wants to dominate Thundersport 2 and take a shot at the overall championship in Jamaica, he also has a regional focus.

"We're in the horns of a dilemma right now. We virtually have the Caribbean Championships sewn up, and I really need to turn up in Guyana to keep within the rules so I have to be careful that nothing catastrophic happens on Monday," Gore said as he made it known that he is going to play it safe.

"You always want to win your own championship, so we have to go out there, drive as hard as we can, and not do anything foolish," Gore said.

In the Modified Production, William Myers and Nicholas Barnes are poised to put on yet another exciting show. The 'Honda Kings' - of Sebastien Rae, Vivian Mitchell, Gary Barrett and Ackeel Shorter - are expected to dominate their classes.
