Crowdfunding platform to be launched at JSE conference

The Jamaica Stock  Exchange (JSE) will host its 12th annual regional investment conference later this month under the theme 'Global Investment Horizon: Our Options and Future'.

A crowdfunding platform will be launched at this year’s conference by JSE general manager, Marlene Street-Forrest.

Attendance at the annual forum has been steadily increasing over the years, marketing manager Neville Ellis, told Wednesday Business, adding that some 400 attendees are expected this year.

The conference will be held from January 24-26 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston and will see an impressive line-up of local and international speakers.

“Our extensive agenda is very rich in content and is focused on engaging, informing and furthering the discussion on developments within the capital markets,” Street-Forrest said via a press release.

Chairman of Jamaica International Financial Services Authority will address the topic "The Role of the Caribbean as a Global Financial Hub: The Destination for International Capital", while Bank of Jamaica Deputy Governor, Livingston Morrison will speak address "Effective Market Training to Transform the Caribbean Financial Landscape."

Developing the Entertainment Industry will be addressed by John Andrews, Writer and Movie Producer, ALI Pictures LLC, New York, while Orville Shaggy "Burrell" will speak on "The Caribbean Region Benefiting from its Rich Heritage of Music and Entertainment".
 

Prime Minister Andrew Holness who will officially open the conference will speak about "From Poverty to Prosperity: The Road Map."

Change management consultant and political adviser, Dr.  Isaac Newton is also among the top speakers. Newton will speak at the leadership training workshop entitled, 'Cultivating a winning mindscape in global markets' on Wednesday January 25.

Chairman of the JSE, Ian McNaughton will address the ‘Role of the Capital  Markets in Driving Wealth’ on the opening day.

Other speakers include president of Capital Formation, Equity Capital Markets, TMX Group Limited (Toronto Stock Exchange), Ungad Chadda who will give the opening address on Thursday January 26. 

The official opening takes place on Tuesday, January 24 with the three-day conference taking the form of plenaries, roundtable discussions and networking sessions.
