Sygnus backs luxury villa development in Discovery Bay

Sygnus Real Estate Finance Limited says it is investing US$4.2 million ($609 million) in a luxury development in Discovery Bay, St Ann, called Ocean’s Edge Country Club.

The complex comprising 16 villas is being developed by Genesis Construction Company Limited, led by Norma Clarke.

The complex was designed by architect Lori McIntosh.

JMMB now offering online stock trading

Clients of JMMB can now trade stocks in real time via the securities firm’s online platform Moneyline.

They can “remotely place equity orders and monitor the assets in their portfolio, in real time, without the need for any input from their financial representative or traders”, the securities firm said in a statement.

As a precursor, clients have to open an Equities Money Market Account with JMMB and register for Moneyline, which can be done online.

The platform gives JMMB clients access to the Jamaica Stock Exchange order queues, including ask and bid prices for Jamaican-dollar stocks and the number of units being traded.

JMMB will charge a broker fee equivalent to 0.5 per cent of the transaction value per stock trade for the service. The transactions will also incur the usual Jamaica Central Securities Depository fee and Jamaica Stock Exchange cess.
