CARE subscriptions open

EXIM Bank Jamaica says applications for the COVID-19 CARE Tourism Grant will stay open for the entire month of September.

The bank will be distributing $1.2 billion of support funds to businesses operating in tourism and related sectors, which have been impacted by the coronavirus. It’s meant to help the businesses and their staff with preparations to operate under measures instituted to contain the COVID-19 disease.

The grant falls under the Government of Jamaica’s $25-billion COVID-19 Allocation of Resources for Employees Programme.

Applications run from September 1-30 and is open to small and medium businesses, who are eligible for up to $5 million in grants but will be required to have 10 per cent of the project cost.

Scotiabank ramps up online services

Scotiabank Jamaica will roll out enhanced digital services this month in a continued drive to shift customers towards usage of its electronic platforms, including automated banking machines, mobile and online banking systems.

Among the upcoming services are the withdrawal, deposit and transfer of US currency from and to Jamaican dollar accounts, at the prevailing exchange rate, using the ATM network.

Already, the bank has introduced e-statements accessible through Scotia Online for savings accounts, credit cards and transactional services, as well as the payment of credit card debt at its smart ATMs by inserting the cards and depositing cash. The card payments are updated instantly, the bank said.

Scotia Group Jamaica President & CEO David Noel said in a release that by the end of September, customers can expect more features and functionalities, further reducing the need for in-branch visits.
