Marriott Hotel opens in Guyana in public/private sector partnership
GEORGETOWN, Guyana:
In a private/public sector partnership, Guyana has opened its first Marriott Hotel in the centre of the capital Gerogetown.
Guyana's President, Donald Ramotar and Marriott's executive vice president, Brenda Durham, symbolically cut the ribbon during a ceremony at the hotel this morning.
The facility is owned by Atlantic Hotel Incorporated (AHI), a government agency.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was complemented by the unveiling of a historic plaque and the presentation of symbolic keys to all the guests attending the ceremony.
"This world class facility, compares to any international hotel in the world," said Ramotar.
Meanwhile, Durham told the gathering that more than 200 Guyanese have joined the Marriott family, pointing out the importance of the property to the chain.
