Call for entries for GATFFEST Film Festival
Cinematographers across the Caribbean are being called upon to submit entries for yet another edition of Jamaica's popular and fast-growing community film festival, GATFFEST, under the auspices of the UWI Community Film Project.
The third annual GATFFEST (The Greater August Town Film Festival), which has grown from strength to strength since its launch, continues to be a platform for showcasing local, regional and international filmmakers, and to harness their talents and works.
"GATFFEST is not merely a film festival," said Professor Ian Boxill, professor of management studies and director, Centre for Tourism and Policy Research. "It seeks and continues to be an agent of change, which highlights the positive values in our communities."
Boxill, who is the head of the GATFFEST Film Festival, called on cinematographers across the region to showcase their talent and strong creative acumen to the world.
"This is a platform for the Caribbean's budding and emerging cinematographers to get excellent visibility and reach out to a wide-spectrum audience," Professor Boxill added.
The excitement and buzz about GATFFEST is building.
"We have a steady stream of submissions coming in and, to date, we have received 35 films, of which 15 films are from the wider Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and North America," Professor Boxill informed.
Films may be submitted in the following categories or genres:
n Comedy
n Drama
n Animation
n Documentary
n Musical/dance
n Sci-fi/horror
The deadline for submission is April 30, 2015.
