Dancehall makes return to Billboard Hot 100
St Thomas, USVI-based hip-hop/dancehall duo R.CITY has charted on the Billboard Hot 100 with their latest dancehall single called Locked Away, which features Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine.
The song sees the duo opting to go dancehall this time around, after failing to chart with their last hip-hop single, I'm That, featuring Beenie Man and Azealia Banks. Locked Away currently sits at
No. 16 on the chart.
OMI still sits in the No. 1 spot after 18 weeks on the Hot 100 charts, while Straight Outta Compton by NWA and Boyz in the Hood by Easy E have both charted this week, arising from the recent success of the NWA movie Straight Outta Compton. Both singles were released over a decade ago.
On the reggae side of things, UK's reggae singer Joss Stone still holds the No. 1 spot on the Reggae Billboard albums chart, while Morgan Heritage makes a return to the top 10 with Strictly Roots, rising to No. 10 from the ashes.
